Legislature passes Impartial Justice Bill; Governor expected to sign
Nov. 6, 2009 – Accomplishing a major public policy goal of the State Bar of Wisconsin, both houses of the Wisconsin Legislature passed the Impartial Justice Bill on Nov. 5, sending the legislation to Governor Doyle, who has said publicly he will sign it into law. -

In determining the enforceability of restrictive covenants in Star Direct, the Wisconsin Supreme Court’s holdings and approach appear to be inconsistent with the long-standing test and rules for making such determinations. 2009 Wisconsin Act 28 defines state employee domestic partnerships and same sex domestic partnerships and governs relationships between partners. The Act affects many areas of the law, but its provisions are not comprehensive.
