- International E-Contracting: A Basic Legal Framework for Electronic Commerce: As the number of electronic commerce transactions has increased, businesses and consumers have called for the recognition of new techniques for completing electronic transactions- electronic signatures, electronic contracts, and electronic records. The market has taken the lead in this approach and has designed a variety of new tools for authenticating, verifying or validating electronic transactions, including biometric technology, digital signature technology, digitized signatures and password techniques. The Internet and the growth of information technologies have also enabled the transmission, processing, and storage of vast amounts of personal information. While these capabilities contribute to the successful development of e-commerce, they also raise concerns about individual privacy. The market is now beginning to respond to these concerns and companies have begun to adopt privacy policies which address the transfer of personal data in the U.S. and abroad.
