April 1, 2009 – The Federal Trade Commission will begin enforcing a new anti-identity theft rule on May 1. The rule applies to most businesses, including lawyers who bill their clients after services have been rendered.

April 1, 2009 – An email con targeting lawyers across the country makes an appearance in Wisconsin. The sophisticated scam uses the names of real people and businesses and is purposefully directed at attorneys performing mediation work.
