Sept. 16, 2009 – Legal Action’s Volunteer Lawyers Project (VLP) presents its free 2009 Annual Fall Training CLE program in November for attorneys who commit to provide direct pro bono legal services to low-income clients in Legal Action’s 39-county service area. The VLP offers a variety of opportunities for pro bono lawyers to help poor people protect the safety, stability and health of their families, maintain safe and affordable housing, and secure public benefits that will assure food, medical care and financial support.

In addition to these annual training programs which include comprehensive manuals with forms and sample documents, the VLP supports volunteer attorneys with ongoing technical support, professional liability insurance, litigation expense funds, case/client screening, scheduling flexibility and special pro bono projects. Participating in the Volunteer Lawyers Project is an effective way for lawyers to meet their professional pro bono obligation and contribute to their communities.
