Virtual law offices and ethics: Is it safe to practice in the cloud?
March 17, 2010 — The risks of a virtual law office are similar to the ethics and malpractice risks of a traditional law practice, but it may be easier to protect yourself against those risks with the technology provide by specialized software providers. In many instances, the security provided by Software as Service providers may actually be better than what a law firm currently has in place.
Understanding lawyer compassion fatigue in Wisconsin: Public defenders participate in study
March 17, 2010 — Although compassion fatigue has been extensively studied in first responders and other professionals who work with trauma victims, researchers have only recently begun to examine the impact on legal professionals. The Wisconsin State Public Defender is participating in a study of compassion fatigue on lawyers and support staff, and the results of that study could benefit lawyers nationwide.
