The State Bar's membership will elect a president-elect, secretary, and Judicial Council representative in April. The president-elect serves a one-year term before becoming president. The treasurer holds the position for two years, while the Judicial Council representative serves a three-year term.

Members interested in running for president-elect, secretary, or Judicial Council can file a petition, which must be signed by 100 active Bar members, with the State Bar by Feb. 1. To receive a petition, contact Jan Marks at jmarks@wisbar.org or call (608) 250-6106, or (800) 444-9404, ext. 6106.

Districts 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, and 16 will elect governors in 2012. District 2 (Milwaukee) elects five; District 9 (Dane) elects four; and all other districts elect one. The Board of Governors is the State Bar's policymaking body. Governors serve two-year terms.
To be considered for a seat on the Board of Governors, members must submit a petition signed by 10 active members in their district at the State Bar by March 1, 2012. To receive a petition, visit Board of Governors or contact Marks.
All four State Bar divisions are selecting candidates for their elections.
Government Lawyers Division (GLD) members will choose three division directors to serve two-year terms. Interested GLD members are invited to write to the GLD Nominating Committee in care of the State Bar by Feb. 1.
Nonresident Lawyers Division (NRLD) members will choose a president-elect for a one-year term and five directors to serve two-year terms. Only active and emeritus-status NRLD members can run for these positions. Interested NRLD members should send their resumes and letters of interest to the NRLD Nominating Committee Chair in care of the State Bar by Jan. 13.
Senior Lawyers Division (SLD) members will choose a president-elect for a one-year term and four directors to serve two-year terms. Interested SLD members should write to the SLD Nominating Committee in care of the State Bar by Jan. 15.
Young Lawyers Division (YLD) members will choose a division president-elect. YLD directors and other officers will be elected during 2012 Young Lawyers Leadership Development Conference on March 30 in Milwaukee. YLD members are invited to write to the YLD Nominating Committee Chair in care of the State Bar by Feb. 3.

Election ballots will be mailed no later than April 13, 2012, and must be returned by April 27, 2012. Persons elected will take office July 1, 2012.
