Speakers must speak for a minimum of 25 minutes in order to be eligible for any CLE credit. CLE credit is based on 50 minutes for 1.0 credits, however, the value of .5 credits must be at least 25 minutes in duration. As a speaker, you will receive double the credit for the time you actually speak.
Example:
A 25 minute presentation will be awarded 1.0 credits (.5 x 2), a 50 minute presentation will be awarded 2.0 credits (1.0 x 2). (Panel members will receive double the credit for the length of the panel discussion, as long as it is a minimum of 25 minutes.)
A speaker will also get credit for the entire program for which they are speaking, if in fact, they attend the entire program. Remember, you must subtract the time you speak from the credits granted for the program when you report the activity on your CLE Form 1.
Example:
The program is granted 3.5 credits. You speak for 25 minutes. 3.5 -.5 = 3.0. You would report 3.0 credits for attendance plus 1.0 (.5 x2) for teaching credits = 4.0 credits.
