About the Program
Special issues in condominium law and representation
The condominium form of real estate ownership presents special
issues for lawyers. In this unique form of multi-family housing,
where part of the ownership is exclusive and part of it is shared,
lawyers are called on to resolve federal, state and common law issues,
to deal with economic trends and to understand human nature.
Join leading practitioners for a lively discussion on fair housing,
ethics, developers in financial trouble, covenant enforcement and
making mixed-use condominiums work.
The 2nd Annual Condominium Law Practice in Wisconsin will
bring you knowledge and insight on the types of challenges this area of
practice presents.
Who do you represent?
The first session, “What am I doing here?” sets the tone
with an interesting discussion of the ethics of representing a
non-profit, non-stock corporation with a lay-volunteer board:
- Who do you represent?
- What do you do with rogue board members?
- What if the board becomes oppressive to owners?
- How far does attorney-client privilege extend?
