GLD Policy for Providing Funds to Outside Groups
(Amended May 29, 2003)
I. Eligibility
- To be eligible to receive funds from the
Government Lawyers Division, the requestor must be a government
attorney. A condition of eligibility is that the proposed funds must
provide a benefit to other Government Lawyers or Government groups in
the performance of their duties or mission. (This may
be accomplished by reporting on the use of the funds through CLE
programs, news articles or other acceptable dissemination of
information.)
- All requests for funding must be submitted in writing to the
President of the GLD. If possible, 30 days notice will be provided to
the GLD before funds are required.
- If possible there should be matching funds provided by the recipient
or the recipient's government agency or specialized association.
Approval
- The President of the GLD with the consent of a majority of the GLD
Board will approve funds.
- Funds will be disbursed on a first come, first served basis, subject
to the GLD's budget constraints. If there are multiple requests and
insufficient funds, the GLD President will recommend the request(s) to
be approved by the GLD Board.
Amounts
- The amount awarded by the GLD will be at the discretion of the GLD
Board subject to budget constraints. Payments will be made as soon as
practical following approval of the GLD Board.
Review
- After funding has been provided, the GLD Board will examine the
outcome of the award at their next meeting and determine whether the
agency, group, or individuals have complied with these guidelines. Any
monies supplied and not used by the recipient shall be returned to the
GLD.
Discrimination
- The GLD will not discriminate against any applicant because of sex,
race, religion, color, national origin or ancestry, age, disability,
lawful source of income, marital status, sexual orientation or familial
status.
Modification
- These policies may be modified with the approval of a majority of
the GLD Board.
