Seminar Descriptions

Live Seminars

A State Bar of Wisconsin LIVE Seminar is a seminar that takes place at an actual location with an in-the-room audience. This affords attendees the opportunity to interact with their colleagues who are interested in the same topics. LIVE seminars are offered at a scheduled time and follow the schedule advertised in the brochure for the seminar.

LIVE seminar attendees see the slides/digital presentations of the seminar and receive copies of all seminar handout materials. Attendees are able to ask questions of presenters in real-time either at specified times during the program or at the end of the program.  LIVE seminars generally qualify for CLE credits.

Live Webcast Seminars

A State Bar of Wisconsin Live WEBCAST Seminar offers State Bar of Wisconsin members the option to attend select CLE seminars right from their desktops. Usually, the LIVE version of the seminar is taking place at the same time in an actual location with an in-the-room audience. Live WEBCAST Seminars are offered at a scheduled time, but viewers can attend from their home, office, or anywhere they have an Internet connection.

Live WEBCAST seminar attendees receive a video stream via a link accessed through the Internet browser on their computers. Slides and seminar handout materials can be downloaded shortly before the program begins. The presenters are not pre-recorded, and the interactive portion takes place between the presenter and the audience in real time. Participants can submit their questions to a presenter via email anytime during the program. Live WEBCAST Seminars generally qualify for CLE credits.

You can review a Live WEBCAST Seminar [or VIDEO Replay] for 90 days in the Webcast Archives, described below.

Video Replay Seminars

VIDEO Replay Seminars offer State Bar of Wisconsin members across Wisconsin the option to attend seminars held at one of up to 12 locations. This format affords attendees the opportunity to interact with their colleagues who are interested in the same topics in their geographic area. VIDEO Replay Seminars are offered at a scheduled time and closely follow the advertised schedule for the live version of the seminar.

VIDEO Replay Seminar attendees watch a pre-recorded version of the LIVE program via DVD. Attendees see the slides/digital presentation of the seminar and receive copies of all seminar handout materials. Attendees are able to ask questions of presenters through a live telephone conference call at specified times. VIDEO Replay Seminars generally qualify for CLE credits.

On Demand Seminars

The State Bar of Wisconsin’s CLE OnDEMAND Seminars combine the quality of State Bar CLE seminars with the ease of watching a video when you want. CLE OnDEMAND allows you to stop, start, and rewind segments as you wish, and is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, eliminating travel time and expense.

Shortly after purchasing a CLE OnDEMAND Seminar, you will receive an email confirmation with links to the seminar and instructions on how to view it. Subscriptions end 90 days from the date of purchase. You may watch your CLE OnDEMAND Seminar as many times as you like during that 90-day period. Tuition is the same for CLE OnDEMAND Seminars as it is for live, video, and telephone seminars. You may also access any CLE OnDEMAND Seminars you purchase by logging on to WisBar and going to “myStateBar.” For easy access to your on-demand videos, use the “My On Demand” feature.

CLE credits will be available for one year after the BBE has re-approved the seminar for on-demand credit. The expiration date will be noted in the seminar’s description. Credits for CLE OnDEMAND Seminars will display in your “My CLE Tracker,” within 24 hours of your first seminar viewing. Use the information in “My CLE Tracker” to help you complete your CLE Report Form 1.

Per SCR 31.05(5), members may only report up to 10 CLE credits of on-demand CLE each reporting period; on-demand CLE cannot be used for reinstatement, readmission, or reactivation; and EPR credits are not available through on-demand CLE.

Webcast Archives

A webcast archive is an archived copy of a State Bar program that was recorded in webcast format. Any attendee of a program that had a webcast component will have access to the archived version from 9 days to 90 days after the date of the event they attended. It does not matter what format you attend (live seminar, live webcast, video seminar, or webcast replay). If the program had a webcast, then you will be granted access to the archive. Webcast archives are for educational purposes only and are not available for credit. Webcast archives will typically be made available seven business days after the event you sign up for but are not available for all events like those with featured speakers.

To access the webcast archive, log on to myStateBar and check the myMedia tab. The link to the streaming video shows up with a "Replay" button next to the seminar title in the myWebcasts section of the myMedia page.
