The Bankruptcy Insolvency & Creditors' Rights Section seeks to
inform its members about developments in bankruptcy and collection law
and to serve the judiciary and the public. The Section offers a number
of benefits to its members:
-

and caselaw of interest to bankruptcy and creditor/debtor
practitioners.
-
Section elist (bicrlaw@elists.wisbar.org)
offers members the option of discussing breaking caselaw, legislation,
best practices, etc.
-
BICR Section Annual Retreat – Participants engage in
“workshop” type breakout sessions. Sitting Wisconsin
bankruptcy judges attend, together with the Assistant United States
Trustees, as well as many of the Chapter 7 trustees and the Chapter 13
trustees. National speakers include current and former bankruptcy
judges. The retreat is held at The American Club, a national historic
landmark and the Midwest’s only Triple AAA. Spouses and
significant others are encouraged to attend. In addition to the lunch on
Thursday, social events are scheduled including a cocktail party, a
dinner at the American Club for all participants and their spouses or
significant others, and dancing to the music of a live band. Section
members receive a discount on registration fees.
-

benefit, the BICR Section’s Board of Directors works with the SBW
CLE Department to produce this event every year in the both the Western
and Eastern Districts.
The Section Board meets quarterly. Standing Committees include Eastern
