About the Program
It’s the time of year again for updating your information on
local, state and federal tax laws. Your State Bar of Wisconsin
CLE Seminars continues the tradition of providing attorneys and tax
professionals with the most up-to-date information on taxation at the
59th Annual Tax School, co-sponsored by the Taxation Section.
At this comprehensive full-day program, experienced taxation
practitioners review selected federal, state, and local changes,
legislative changes, and important case law developments.
Focus on succession planning and like-kind exchanges
This year’s program includes a discussion of the tax
consequences of business ownership succession planning. With about
one-third of family business owners older than 60, succession planning
is likely to come up often in your practice.
Another session covers like-kind exchanges, where you’ll see
how exchanges of investment property can be done with minimal tax
consequences, if done properly. You will learn about recent
developments and guidance relating to the rules under Section 1031 of
the IRS Code.
Invest in more knowledge
The 59th Annual Tax School will also have sessions on
mergers and acquisitions, tax-exempt organizations, audits and criminal
tax investigations, and on Circular 230 and the new return-preparer
standards. It’s a rich buffet that will help you preserve
your clients’ bottom lines.
Whether you advise clients directly on taxation issues or simply
need to alert them to potential concerns, staying current in this area
of the law is critical to your practice. Register today!
